Steven Appleby (*1956) draws comics with idiosyncratic strokes and clever humour. Since 1984 he has published comic strips in British newspapers, including The Guardian, The Times and The Sunday Telegraph. His book "The Memoirs of Captain J. Star" was honoured with the Max und Moritz Award in 1994. Appleby draws inspiration for numerous comics from his own life. His most successful book to date, "Dragman" (2020), is autobiographical in parts. For the story about the trans superheroine Dolly Marie, Appleby received the special jury prize at the International Comics Festival in Angoulême. Steven Appleby is nominated for the Max und Moritz Award 2022 with "Dragman". See nominations!
