ARCHIPELAGO (CA 2021)

"Follow me, I’ll take you to see them all," a woman’s voice says. She speaks of the numerous islands of the Saint Lawrence River - real and dreamed. With its artful animations, a combination of many different and surprising techniques, "ARCHIPELAGO" is both a documentary and a philosophical essay. The off-screen voice leads the viewer through Canadian Québec and raises the question of what makes a piece of land a region and its inhabitants a community. The result is a multi-layered whole of poetic reflections, documentary footage, contemporary impressions, and memories of struggle and pain. A sensual, meditative and hypnotic journey.
