BELLE (JP 2021)

17-year-old Suzu has been unable to sing since her mother died. But after her friend Hiro persuades her to sign up for the popular virtual platform "U," Suzu finds her voice again and becomes the celebrated singer BELLE. During one of her concerts, a dark creature appears, causing trouble in the "U" universe. Suzu goes in search of the mysterious creature and together they experience an unexpected journey full of adventures, which also leads Suzu to herself in the end.

The acclaimed anime had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021. It was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 with “Mirai - The Girl from the Future”.
