Life is a wonderful adventure. Finnish author Tove Jansson, born in 1914, lives by this principle. Through her family she comes into contact with art at an early age, later studies art and begins to draw on the side. However, she does not receive family support and is given the feeling that she is not sufficient as a drawer. She earns money only with her graphic works, but not with her paintings. At the end of World War II, she begins to draw The Moomins, the hippo-like creatures that would make her famous. It was not until her relationship with theater director Vivica Bandler that she realized the value of her illustrations. Today, Tove Jansson is a role model for many illustrators.
