Nicolas Demare became enthusiastic about comics early on and drew his first Ninth Art work at the age of eight. When he discovered the fantasy of Tolkien, Moorcock and Leiber shortly afterwards, it was completely clear to him that he wanted to turn this hobby into a profession! He devoured countless books on subjects such as anatomy, storytelling and comic history while completing his schooling. At 20, he met François Plisson, who gave him access to his studio and thus to the world of bandes dessinées. In the following years, Demare published a small fanzine, visited festivals and fairs and made numerous contacts. After working in the video game industry for a few years, he was offered the opportunity to start his first major series in 2005: "Merlin", based on a scenario by Jean-Luc Istin. Since then, he has become a regular illustrator for the Soleil publishing house and has contributed to numerous fantasy series, including "The Saga of the Dwarves" and "Oracle".
