Andreas Eikenroth comes from Gießen, where he co-founded the comics magazine "the Kainsmal" in the 1990s and was later part of the cartoonist collective "Pony X Press" with Sarah Burrini, Ans de Bruin and Frank "Spong" Plein, "So Much Why" and "Days Like Lead" were self-published, followed in 2013 by "The Beauty of Failure" for Edition 52, which won the ICOM Award for Best Scenario in 2014. He also writes and draws for "The Heritage Post"," Melody& Rythmus" and "mare". In 2019, Eikenroth's adaptation of the famous drama fragment "Woyzeck" was published, followed last year by "Lenz" as an adaptation of Georg Büchner's only novella. Both works are based on true events, and both focus on people with mental illnesses: "Woyzeck" is the disturbing story of a soldier who, through abuse, loses not only his honour and health but also his partner, with whom he has a child together. Illness and jealousy drive him to an act of desperation. "Lenz" depicts the ordeal of the poet Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz - an acquaintance of Goethe - who increasingly succumbs to his bipolar disorder.
