The internationally acclaimed comic series "Gung Ho" tells the story of an escalation in a post-apocalyptic summer idyll. The teenager, traumatised by the rush of hormones and armed, serves as the fuel, the strict rules and double standards of the adults as the match. The 420-page work by author Benjamin von Eckartsberg and illustrator Thomas von Kummant resembles a sinister but beautiful conflagration. In this instructive look behind the scenes of their creative process, the Munich artist duo shows how the idea of a teenage apocalyptic drama was transformed into a comic series celebrated internationally by readers and the press. The exhibition, which was presented on a larger scale at the Comicfestival München in 2021, shows not only comic pages and originals, but also the process from idea to scenario, the cinematic storytelling in painted images, the development of characters, creatures and locations for a fictional world.
